Abstract

Background: Delayed growth in children is caused by inappropriate feeding. Complementary feeding is food given to infants aged 6 months to meet nutritional needs. Parenting plays an important role in determining the nutritional status of children. Good parenting involves parents' understanding of providing balanced food, fulfilling exclusive breastfeeding needs, and the practice of providing appropriate complementary feeding according to the child's age. Parental knowledge, especially mothers, regarding child nutrition and health has a significant effect on child growth. Parenting patterns for feeding infants greatly affect child growth and development and nutritional status. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between parenting patterns for providing complementary feeding with the nutritional status of infants aged 6-12 months in Pleret Village, Pleret District, Bantul Regency. Method: The design of this study is descriptive with a cross-sectional method. The population is mothers who have children aged 6-12 months in Pleret Village, Pleret District, Bantul Regency, totaling 52 people. The technique used is Random sampling with a sample of 52 mothers of infants. Data collection techniques using editing, coding, scoring, tabulating and the test used is the spearman test. The variables used are independent variables and dependent variables, the independent variable is the parenting pattern of providing complementary feeding and the dependent variable is the nutritional status of infants. Conclusion: there is a relationship between parenting patterns of providing complementary feeding and the nutritional status of infants aged 6-12 months.
