Abstract
Background: One of the factors that influence gross motor development in toddlers is the mother’s knowledge of stimulation, good knowledge and the application of appropriate stimulation will help to make the child develop optimally. Objective: To determine the relationship between mother’s knowledge of stimulation and gross motoric development of toddlers in Sumberharjo Village, Prambanan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. Methods: This research was descriptive quantitative study, with a cross sectional research design. This research was conducted in February 2021. The population in this study were 373 pairs of mothers and toodlers, with a sample size of 80 pairs of mothers and toddlers. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling. The data analysis used was Kendall Tau. Results: It was found that 43 (53.8%) well-informed mothers had children with normal gross motor development. A total of 5 (6.2%) knowledgeable mothers had children who had suspected motor development, and 4 (5%) knowledgeable mothers had children who experienced motor development suspects. The results showed that the Kendall Tau significance level (p) of 0.016. Conclusion: There is a relationship between maternal knowledge about stimulation and gross motor development of toddlers.
