Abstract

Background: Indonesia is a developing country with a high population growth of 270.2 million people based on the 2020 census. Based on Indonesia's demographic and health survey in 2015, the Maternal Mortality Rate ( MMR) in Indonesia reached 305 per 100,000 live births. The government's strategy to reduce maternal mortality is an increase in postpartum birth control. The results of a preliminary study conducted at the Grabag Health Center, Purworejo Regency, obtained information that mothers began to use contraceptives after 42 days after giving birth so that a good understanding of contraception was needed. Objectives: To determine the relationship between knowledge of pregnant women about contraception with the attitude of participation in the use of contraceptives after giving birth at the Grabag Health Center, Grabag District, Purworejo Regency. Methods: This research is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted from March to April 2022. The population includes pregnant women in the Grabag Health Center area. The sample of 96 people was taken with the principle of Purposive sampling. Data analysis using chi-square Results: The results showed that respondents who had a low level of knowledge about contraception, as many as 37% supported the participation of post-copy birth control. Meanwhile, respondents who had high knowledge of contraception, 63.8% supported post-copy birth control participation. The chi-square test results obtained a p-value of 0.032. Conclusion: There is a relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about distractions and the attitude of post-copy birth control participation at the Grabag Health Center, Grabag District, Purworejo Regency.
