Abstract

Background : The knowledge individuals is one of the factors which determines them to find for health service effort. The result of the preliminary study 80% of respondents experienced dental health problems, namely cavities. From 80% of respondents, 65% do self-medication, 15% go to a dental health service facility, and the remaining 20% of respondents never had a dental examination. Research Purpose : To know the relationship between the level of mother’s knowledge about dental health and the interest to check the teeth in health service facility. Research Method : This research is an analytical survey with cross sectional design. The sampling was taken by using purposive sampling method. The research was conducted in January 2021. The population of the research was young mothers in Posyandu Wanitaku Maju II working area consists of 43 respondents. The data was collected by using questionnaire knowledge about dental health and the interest to check the teeth. The data analysis uses Kendall’s tau. Research Result : The result shows that the most frequent levels of mother’s knowledge about dental health with good criteria (86%) and interest in checking their teeth in health care facilities had the highest interest (90.75%). The result of Kendall’s Tau test stated that this research had a significant relationship between the level of knowledge about dental health and the interest in checking the teeth in health care facilities with significance values of 0.031 (p<0.05). Conclusion : There is a relation between mother's level of knowledge about dental health with the interest in checking the teeth in health care facilities.
