Abstract

Background:Anxietyisa nunpleasantemotional,characterizedbyfearandtensephysicalsymptomsasrespondofstress.Anxietycommonly happenstopre-operativepatients.Therapeuticcommunicationisoneof themodality therapies toanxiouspatients. Therapeuticcommunicationisacommunicationwhichfacilitatesrecovery topatientsbygivingsafeandcomfortablefeelingsandpromotestrustsbetweenhealth care providersand patients.Objective:Toinvestigatethecorrelationbetweenthepatientsperceptiontothe nurses therapeuticcommunicationandtheanxiety levelofappendictomypre-operativepatients in Yogyakarta HospitalandHardjolukito Hospital.Methodology:Thisresearchwasananalyticsurvey withcross-sectionaldesign. Twenty-threerespondentswereinvolvedassamplesbyconsecutive samplingtechnique.Statisticaltestusedinthisresearchisnon-parametricand spearmanrank.Results:There wasacorrelationbetweenpatientsperceptiontothenursetherapeuticcommunicationandt h eanxiety levelonappendictomypre-operativepatients.Non-parametric testusedSpearmenrankrhoformulashowed asignificantresultof p-value=0.014p<0.05,withcorrelationcoefficient of0.506.Conclusion:There wasasignificantcorrelationbetweenpatientsperceptiontothe nursetherapeuticcommunicationwiththeanxiety levelofappendictomypre-operativepatients.Keywords:Perception, TherapeuticCommunication, AnxietyLevel
