Abstract
Background : Water containing high levels of hardness can cause problems such as health problems, waste of soap, and cooking utensils. High hardness can be derived with various ion exchange media such as Zeolite and Resin. Objective : Know the decrease in hardness levels using zeolite and resin media Methodology : This study is a literature review that discusses the reduction of water hardness with zeolite and resin media with a reference of 7. Then the data is done descriptive analysis and conclusions are drawn Result : The results obtained from the literature review found that zeolite and resin media can reduce hardness. Based on the results of the reviewed journals, zeolite and resin media can reduce hardness most effectively with a stay of 30 minutes to get the lowest reduction results of 7.7% and the highest 25%. while at the residence time of 60 minutes the lowest percentage yield results 1.64% and the highest 32.7% Conclusion : Ion exchange media that has the best ability to reduce hardness levels is to use resin media with a time remaining 60 minutes.
