Abstract

Public places are places where everyone can visit and do their activities in one place, one of them is Prambanan Temple. Environmental conditions that are not maintained will have an impact on the risk of spreading the disease. The spread of disease can come from food. One place for food management is food stalls. If the management of food stalls is not done well, it can cause health problems for consumers. Travelers who come to Prambanan Temple are on vacation. Travelers on vacation are not sure to come back to Prambanan Temple so that cases of pain related to food are rarely reported. This was a survey descriptive research. The population in this study were 55 food stalls located in Prambanan Temple which used permanent buildings. The sample was chosen purposively, one of the food handlers in each permanent building food stall. The instrument used is a questionnaire and checklist. The results showed that there was still a low level of knowledge of food handlers at 34.5%. The practice of food handlers on the daily habit of washing hands with soap is included in the unfavorable category of 61.8%. The availability of hand-washing facilities using soap is also included in the unfavorable category of 85.5%. The conclusion of this study is that a high level of knowledge does not affect the practice of better hand washing with soap.
