Abstract

One of the scope of the No Slum City Program (KOTAKU) to improve sanitation access to 100% at the level of basic needs for proper sanitation in slum settlements is by providing Communal waste water treatment plants (IPAL) for the management of feces, based on surveys conducted by many residents who have not utilized communal WWTPs. Research with the aim to find out the factors that caused the community to use the Communal WWTP. This type of research is the study quantitative survey with analysis descriptive. The location of the study was in the Bantaran River Code Area, Ratmakan Village, Ngupasan Village, Gondomanan District with a sample of 36 respondents, 20 respondents using Communal WWTP and 16 respondents not using Communal WWTP users. The results of the study are presented in the form of tables and narratives. The results showed the level of knowledge of Communal WWTP users about stool management with the presence of Communal WWTPs of 75 % good, with an attitude of 100 % good, and actions equal to 100 % good while for the level of knowledge not the Communal WWTP users about the management of feces with the presence of Communal of WWTPs 43.75% good, with an attitude of 87.5% good, and the action of 43.75% is good, for the topographic conditions of the land for non-communal WWTP respondents is 25 % with a slope of <2%, amounting to 12, 5 % of distance of houses with Communal WWTP> 10 m, then 6.25% piping network access is difficult and amounting to 37.5 % lack of land, in this case the manager plays an important role in the utilization of the Communal WWTP. Conclusions This study shows the that factors that led to the public in the use of communal WWTP is the knowledge, attitude and good conduct, as well as the factors that cause people do not take advantage of the highest Communal WWTP is the topographic factor is the slope and the lack of land, as well as in this case the BKM and KSM are very important role in managing the Communal WWTP.
