Abstract

Personal higiene is a clean, safe and healthy behavior of food handlers to prevent contamination of food. Food handlers must meet the requirements as food processing personnel which include, not smoking while working, not eating and not chatting while working, not wearing jewelry, always washing hands before and after work after leaving the toilet, always wearing clean work clothes, covering the mouth when coughing and sneezing, not holding hair while working. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using standing banner media on the level of knowledge and personal hygiene attitudes of food handlers in the wingko babat X industry Bantul Regency. This type of research is a Quasi Experiment or pseudo experiment with a research design that is one group pretest and posttest design. This research was conducted from May to September 2023. The sample in this study was 30 food handlers. This study used total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and analytically through the Wilcoxon test to determine the difference between pre- test and post-test knowledge values. Then using the Mann-Whitney test to determine the results of differences using standing banner media. The result was an increase in personal hygiene knowledge of food handlers in the wingko babat X industry before counseling 7.53 and after counseling with standing banners 13.73. There was an increase in the personal hygiene attitude of food handlers in the wingko babat X industry before 34.9 and after counseling with standing banners 43.2. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of using standing banners as a medium for counseling on increasing the knowledge and attitude of food handlers towards personal higiene.
