Abstract

Background:Gingival recession is the exposure of tooth root surface due to gingival margin migrates to apical avoid the Cemento Enamel Junction (JEC). Prevalence of gingival recession in Indonesia is 95.5%. Tooth brushing is important for dental and gingival health. The fault in tooth brushing behavior or the hard of brush bristles will result in significant wound on the gingival. Gingival recession can cause sensitivity on the tooth roots, cementum erosion, root caries, and aesthetic disruption. Purpose: To investigatethe tooth brushing behavior toward the occurrence of gingival recession Research Method:This research was descriptive method with cross-sectional design. Sampling technique wastotal sampling. This research was conducted in Kebonharjo sub-district, Klaten. The number of sample is 35 people. Data collection used questionnaires of tooth brushing behavior and measurement of gingival recession with periodontal probe. Result:Most of the respondents have tooth brushing behavior in medium criteria (60.0%). Respondents with gingival recession mostly in low criteria (51.4%). Respondents with poor tooth brushing behavior have low gingival recession (66.7%). Conclusion:Respondents with poor tooth brushing behavior have low gingival recession.
