Abstract

The Level Of Knowledge About Brushing Teeth And Plaque Score At Student Elementary School Muhammadiyah Tegalrejo Yogyakarta Rizki Prawesti*, Wiworo Haryani, Sutrisno Jurusan Keperawatan Gigi Poltekkes Kemenkes Yogyakarta Jl. Kyai Mojo No. 56 Pingit Yogyakarta Email :rizkiprawesti253@gmail.com ABSTRACT Background: Caries prevalence in Indonesia still tends to be high at 90,90%, the main cause of caries is plaque accumulation associated with low knowledge of good and correct brushing. Purpose: Knowing the level of knowledge of brushing teeth and plaque scores. Method: The research was conducted at Muhammadiyah Tegalrejo Elementary School on February 2019. This type of research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique as many as 49 respondents with using inclusion namely willing to parcipate in ages 10 to12 years can read writing, and exclusion criteria is not present and not willing to fill out the questionnaire. Results : Most of the respondents were female as many as 24 respondents (54,5%) and most of the respondents were 11 years old as many as 26 respondents (59,1%). The highest level of knowledge of brushing teeth for students in Elementary School, namely the criteria of being with the highest age of 11 years as many as 17 respondents (65,4%) and sex namely women with 12 respondents (54,6%); while the most plaque scores were moderate criteria with the most age 11 years as many as 14 respondents (53,8%) dan female sex as many as 12 repondents (50%). Conclusion: Elementary School students have a level of knowledge of brushing teeth with moderate criteria and plaque scores with moderate criteria which are as many as 18 respondents (40,9%).
