Abstract

RELATIONSHIP OF MOTHER BEHAVIOR IN GUIDING BRUSH DENTISTS WITH CARIES IN LIGHT TUNAGRAHITA CHILDREN IN SLB RELA BHAKTI 1 GAMPING *NelyYuliarmi, DwiSuyatmi, FuraidaKhasanah Dental Nursing Department Polytechnic Ministry of Health Yogyakarta Jl. Kyai Mojo No. 54, Bener, Tegalrejo, Yogyakarta 55244 *Email :nely.yuliarmi17@gmail.com ABSTRACT Background:Children with intellectual disabilities have mental, physical and emotional limitations that are different from normal children, so mentally disabled children need help in maintaining personal hygiene especially oral and dental hygiene. Mother's behavior in guiding, reminding and providing tooth brushing facilities is very much the basis of the formation of oral health such as brushing teeth thoroughly to prevent plaque accumulation in caries in mentally retarded children Research Objectives: To determine the relationship of mothers in guiding toothbrushing with caries rates in mild retarded children. Research Methods: This study uses analytic surveys that use cross sectional. The research population of all mild retarded elementary school students in SLB Rela Bhakti 1 Gamping, sampling technique using a total sampling taken 30 respondents, the time of the study in October-November 2019.Data analysis using Rank Spearman rank trials. Results: Maternal behavior in guiding toothbrushing was included in the good category (43.3%). The caries value is mostly in the very low category (30.0%). There is a relationship between mothers in guiding toothbrushing with caries . With a significant value of p = 0,000 Conclusion: Good maternal behavior in guiding tooth brushing with caries in mild retarded children Keywords: Mother's Behavior, Caries Figures, Children with Developmental Impairments
