Abstract

The learning achievement still remains the indicators to assess the success rate of students in the learning process. A good performance can reflect learning style better because by knowing and understanding the learning style that is best for him will help his students learn so generated will be maximized. This study aims to determine the learning style and academic achievement of students. The experiment was conducted at the Department of Dentistry Polytechnic MoH Yogyakarta in April 2016, with the number of 59 students. The method used is descriptive. Data was collected through questionnaire method of student learning styles and methods of documentation for students' academic achievement. Data processing is performed to determine the learning style and learning achievement. The results showed more students have a visual learning style compared to auditory and kinesthetic, namely 55.9%, and there are students who have more than one learning style which is 1.7% had visual-auditory learning style, 3.4% have a visual learning style-kinesthetic and 1.7% had auditory-kinesthetic learning style. 38 students have a good learning performance but not all students have a good achievement, 27.1% of the students have a very good achievement, 64.4% of the students have a good achievement a n d 8 . 5% o f s t u d e n t s h a d m o d e r a t e achievement. Research shows that student learning achievement using visual learning style has a performance index is better than the students who use auditory and kinesthetic learning styles.
