Abstract

Background: The study was conducted at the Kalasan Panti Rini hospital because 80% of patient who will carry out tooth extraction showed anxiety. Anxiety is a psychological problem that has characteristics of fear, worry, and nervousness. Objective: Knowing the description of the anxiety level before the tooth extraction was taken at the Kalasan Panti Rini Hospital. Methods: The type of this research was descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The population is adult patient who have been extracted for the first time. The number of samples is 30 respondents using accidental sampling technique. Location in Kalasan Panti Rini Hospital, February 2019. The inclusion criteria respondens aged 25-40 years, willing to be respondents, cases of normal tooth extraction, and first experience extracting teeth. Outcome : The result of the study are, the moderate level anxiety 14 respondents (46,6%), mild anxiety 11 respondents (36,7%), not anxious 5 respondents (16,7%). The level of anxiety of responden who had dental checkup is at the level of mild anxiety (50%), and respondents who have never dental check up at the moderate level of anxiety (55,6%). Respondents based on position of the teeth in the jaw over 22 respondents (73,4%), upper jaw 8 respondents (26,6%) The result of cross tabulation show the responden at most maxillary tooth extraction was at the level of moderate anxiety, 54,6 % of 22 respondents, patient at most lower teeth are at the level of mild anxiety, 75% of 8 respondents. Conclusion :The anxiety level before the tooth extraction was taken at the Kalasan Panti Rini Hospital was at the level of moderate anxiety. Keyword: Anxiety, Tooth Extraction.
