Abstract
Backgroud : Stunting is a condition where the height according to age is less than -2 standard deviations. Stunting in toddlers can lead to impaired physical development and cognitive development. One of the risk factors for stunting is the mother's height. Mothers with short stature have inadequate anatomical and metabolic systems that can affect the growth and development of the fetus. Objectives :. To determine the relationship between maternal height and stunting incidence in children aged 0-24 months in the work area of the Srandakan Health Center Method : Observational study with case control design in toddlers aged 0-24 months with a total sample of 33 cases (stunting) and 66 controls (normal). Stunting criteria are determined based on the z score of tb/U index <-2 SD according to WHO child growth standard and maternal height is called short if < 150 cm. Data on birth length, current body length, gender and age of toddlers as well as maternal height were obtained through document tracing, namely annual nutritional status monitoring data and KIA register data in the work area of the Srandakan Health Center. Data analysis with Chi Square test and Odd Ratio (OR) calculation. Result : The incidence of stunting in children aged 0-24 months in the work area of the Srandakan Health Center is 46 toddlers or 9.68% of 475 toddlers 0-24 months, with a distribution of men of 38 toddlers (12.45%) and women of 8 toddlers (4.70%). Of the 33 stunting toddlers sampled in this study, 15 toddlers or 45.5% came from short mothers There was a significant relationship (p= 0.007) between the mother's height and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 0-24 years. Short mothers (height <150 cm) are at 3.4 times greater risk of having stunted toddlers (0-24 months). Conclution : In this study, it was proven that the mother's height was related to the incidence of stunting Key word : Stunting, mother's height
