Abstract

In DIY, increasing consumption of food and beverages risk more than once/day in the population over 10 years old from 2007 to 2013 is directly proportional to the case of non communicable diseases such as cancer and Diabetes Mellitus. Elementary students are potential agent of change who easily motivated and enhanced their competence. The problem can be solved by providing education to increase 2014 PGS’ knowledge of elementary students. Required interesting and innovative media, for example, pop-up books and leaflets. The purpose of this research is to assess the increase students’ knowledge of PGS 2014 of the pop-up group compared with leaflet group. This type of research was a quasi experimental with pre post test with control group design. Research was held on January 2015, population was all elementary students in DIY. Samples were selected by multistage random sampling and simple random sampling technique, so VA class of SDN Keputran 2 was selected as pop up book group and VC class of SDN Keputran 1 as leaflet group. The independent variable is nutrition education about PGS 2014 using pop up book and leaflet, and the dependent variable is elementary students' knowledge of PGS 2014. Instruments have been tested, its validity (r count> 0.3) and reliability (ri = 0.884). Students' knowledge of 2014 PGS using parameter about correct answer scores with interval scale. The data were analyzed using Kolmogorov Smirnov test, independent test samples, and paired sample t-test with 95% validity. The result of pre test are not significant on two groups (0,130<1,680). In post test result, there is a significant difference in the increasing knowledge in both groups [-(-2,031)> -(-1,680)]. Increased knowledge of pop up group is higher than leaflet group [-(-9,731)> -(-7,326)]. There are differences on delta of knowledge in both groups [-(-1,951)> -(-1,680)]. The difference knowledge mean score of pop-up book group is higher than leaflet group (3.91> 2.83). In conclusion, there is significant increased students’ knowledge of pop-up book group is higher than leaflet group. Keywords : Media, knowledge, 2014 PGS, pop up book
