Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: In recent year, the abuse of narcotics, psycotropics and addictive substance (NAPZA) have reached the concerned situation both in national and international. The consumer of NAPZA injection showed behavior which the potency of Sexually Transmitted Infection (IMS) and HIV/AIDS transmission. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the behavior of the abuse of NAPZA and the Sexually Transmitted Infection in the student of Senior High School (SMU and SMK) in Yogyakarta. Methods: Methods of this study was observational with cross sectional design to 500 students of SMU and SMK in the Yogyakarta. The data were collected by interview with questionnaire which adapted from Behavioral Suveillance Survey from October to December 2006. The sample of each region obtained by Area of Probability Size Random Sampling. Result: In Yogyakarta, there were 23% the student of Senior High School have tried the NAPZA. Descriptively, the students from South of Yogyakarta were the highest of abuse NAPZA from the other region (34,2%) and the low percentage was the West region (1,7%). From 117 respondents 44,4% students routinely use the NAPZA with the frecuency approximately 2-3 times per week. The most of type NAPZA were consumed : lexotan, cannabis and trihax penidie. The way of consumption NAPZA was by inhalated or per oral and the other (0,8%) by injecting. Generally, the spuit injection was used together. There were 54% students have girlfriend, 15,2% students have done sexual intercourse and 70% the sexual intercourse without protection. Among the student use of NAPZA, 22% students with manifestation of IMS was purulent exudation from genital (8,5%), plain when urinating (41,9%) and ulceration (3,4%). Conclusion: There were the potential spreading and the increase of the abuse NAPZA in the Senior High School (SMU and SMK) in Yogyakarta and the manifestation of Sexually Transmitted Infection (IMS) which potential to transmissibility risk of HIV/AIDS.
