Abstract

Background: The prevalence of cancer in Indonesia in 2018 is highest at 1.79 per 1000 population, up from 2013 which was 1.4 per 1000 population. Globocan data for 2018 mention the prevalence of cancer in consecutive women namely breast cancer (30.9%), cervical cancer (17.2%), ovarian cancer (7.1%), colon cancer (5.8%), and sequence fifth thyroid cancer (4.2%). The highest prevalence of cancer in Indonesia is in the Province of DI. Yogyakarta by 4.1%. The biggest cancer risk factors that cause cancer are age, hormones, and infectious agents (including immediate family). Objectives: To find out a significant relationship between cancer risk factors with the highest frequency of cancer incidence in women in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. The subjects of the study were women who had examined cancer detection in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, with a total of 100 people selected using a positive sampling technique. The independent variable of this research was cancer risk factors and the dependent variable was cancer incidence in women. Statistical tests use the chi-square test. Results: Age risk factors (> 40 years) are risk factors with the highest frequency in each type of cancer that is as much as 65%. Chi-Square test results showed that the age variable had a significant relationship with the incidence of breast cancer (p-value = 0,000); the incidence of cervical cancer with p-value = 0.005 (<0.05) and the incidence of thyroid cancer with p-value = 0.005 (<0.05). While the age variable is not related to the incidence of ovarian cancer with p-value = 0.074 (> 0.05). Conclusion: Age risk factors are related with the incidence of breast cancer, cervical cancer, and thyroid cancer. While age risk factors have no significant relationship with the incidence of ovarian cancer. Keywords: cancer in women, cancer risk factors.
