Abstract

Washing Hands Using Soap (CTPS) in Ngaglik Hamlet, Menoreh Magelang has not been fully carried out by mothers in daily activities because there are no extension activities or triggering about CTPS conducted in Ngaglik Menoreh Magelang Hamlet, while for most of the livelihoods of mothers in Ngaglik Hamlet need to wash their hands properly and correctly. This study aims to determine the description of the behavior of handwashing with soap in the mothers of Ngaglik Menoreh Magelang hamlet. This type of research is descriptive research, using survey methods. The study was conducted in Ngaglik Menoreh Magelang hamlet with a total of 87 respondents. The results showed data with details of washing hands at the time before eating and after defecation as much as 98.55%, doing hand washing at the time before preparing food as much as 81.16%, mothers who were still breastfeeding did hand washing at the time before breastfeeding as much as 50% and mothers who have toddlers do hand washing at the time after plucking babies as much as 62.5%. Research on how to wash hands with soap with 6 steps according to the WHO showed that 73.91% washed their hands with the first step, 14.49% washed their hands with the second step, 10.14% washed their hands with the third step , and as many as 100% do not take steps four, five and six Maternal respondents have not applied handwashing with soap, for example they have not applied hand washing at critical times and have not applied good hand washing according to the 6 steps of washing hands with soap.
