Abstract

Cleaning service have responsible to keep clean the floors, walls, glasses, toilets, putting medical and non-medical waste to their places. When the cleaning service do their activities some of them were not use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) well, completely and correctly. Some of the risks will be borne by the cleaning service are contaminated with dust, slipped when mop the floor, touch directly with chemicals what used to mop the floor, exposure to biological hazards when clean laboratories or rooms are containing viruses and bacteria, pierced by sharp objects such as syringes when managing waste. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge’s level and attitude of cleaning service in Prembun Hospital about Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) in using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Type of survey research with Cross Sectional method, the number of research subjects was 16 people. Data collection using questionnaires and checklists, data analysis using Spearman correlation test with α = 0.05. The results showed that the probability value (p) of cleaning service knowledge about PPE was 0.735, cleaning service attitude about PPE was 0.950, cleaning service knowledge about HAIs was 0.417, and cleaning service attitude about HAIs was 0.804. Because the probability value (p) is greater than α = 0.05, there is no relationship between knowledge and attitude of the cleaning service with using of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Suggestions for cleaning service should use PPE completely when they do their job and the Sanitation party is important role in supervision of cleaning service.
