Abstract
During the welding process light and light will arise which can endanger the weld worker. Eye fatigue is caused by stress that occurs in the function of vision. Stress in the muscles that function for accommodation can occur when someone tries to see small objects and at close distances for a long time. Eye fatigue is characterized by blurred vision, double vision, red eyes, sore eyes, drowsy eyes and reduced accommodation capacity. This research is a descriptive study which aims to describe the eye fatigue in welding workshop workers in Prambanan and Manisrenggo Districts. The study sample was 40 weld workers. The sampling technique used in this study is saturated sampling. Measurements using the Visual Fatigue Index (VFI) questionnaire to measure eye fatigue. The results of this study showed 28 respondents or 70% experienced eye fatigue, 15 respondents or 55.5% with a work period of 2 years experiencing symptoms of eye fatigue, workers using PPE who experienced eye fatigue as many as 16 respondents or 57.2%, working period ≥3.5-5 years as many as 18 respondents or 66.7% experienced eye fatigue. It is expected that workers always use PPE to maintain Safety and Health while working. Workshop owners should improve safety of workers by completing PPE such as safety goggles with ultraviolet protective side shields.
