Abstract

One of targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), is households which are said to have proper sanitation access when sanitary facilities are used to meet health requirements. Based on a preliminary survey it is known that in Dusun Blubuk, Sendangsari, Pengasih, Kulon Progo, there are 19 households that do not have a latrines of 148 households that exist. This research aims to determine the factors related to ownership of family latrines in Dusun Blubuk such as education, income, knowledge, attitudes and habit with the ownership of the family latrines. The type of research is used analytical survey research with a cross sectional approach. The sample of research are using simple random sampling techniques for the family head that had the latrines and the total sampling techniques for the head of the family that had no latrines, total 62 samples. Data analysis is using Chi Square statistical test with a significant level of 95%. The result showed that there is no relationship between the education of family head and a latrine ownership (p value = 0,800), there is no relationship between the income of family head and a latrine ownership (p value = 0,325), there is a relationship between knowledge of family head and a latrine ownership (p value = 0,001), there is a relationship between attitude and habit of family head and a latrine ownership (p value = 0,047). To health personnels in the working area of Pengasih I is advised to provide socialization especially about the importance of latrine ownership and every family head is expected to participate in clean and healthy lifestyle behaviour, one of which by not letting the family members defecate indiscriminately so that there is no transmission of disease due to feces.
