Abstract

Wells are the main source of supply of clean water for people living in urban and rural areas. Water is very closely related to humans and has an important role in human health. Poor water quality can cause diseases that can harm humans. One way to overcome this is by disinfection of water by chlorination using chlorine diffuser, based on a community survey there are people who have installed and there are those who have not and not yet known the level of community satisfaction with the diffuser chlorine device. This study aims to determine community acceptance of the presence of chlorine diffuser in dug wells. This type of research is survey research with descriptive analysis. The location of the study was in the Tahunan Village, Umbulharjo Subdistrict, Yogyakarta City with a sample of 31 respondents. The results of the study are presented in the form of tables and narratives. The results showed that in terms of knowledge about clean water as much as 89% of the total statements answered agreed by respondents, public acceptance of chlorine diffuser in terms of smell by 79%, in terms of taste by 89%, in terms of clarity of 95%, in terms of placement by 99%, and in terms of form by 84%. The conclusion of this study shows that the level of public acceptance of the presence of chlorine diffuser in the dug wells is on average in the good category with a general community acceptance rate of 89%, which means that people are aware of the importance of maintaining water quality to avoid bacteria that can cause disease.
