Abstract

Background: The results of the 2018 National Basic Health Research Report (Rikesdas), malocclusion in Indonesia is a fairly high oral health problem accounting for around 80% of the population. The results of a preliminary study in February 2024, obtained data on 78% of VIII D class students, experiencing malocclusion and the results of interviews with 10 respondents about malocclusion obtained data most (80%) were less knowledgeable. Counseling using modified rometa media (turntable wheels) is one way to increase knowledge about malocclusion. Research Objective: To know the effect of counseling using modified rometa media (turntable wheel) on the level of knowledge about malocclusion in Muhammadiyah 1 Sleman Junior High School students. Research Method: This research design is Quasi-Experimental with NonEquivalent Group design, sampling using purposive sampling of 86 respondents. The variables in this study were counseling using modified rometa media and malocclusion knowledge. Data collection techniques using questionnaires. Data analysis using normality test, Wilcoxon Signed rank Test, Mann Whitney U Test. Results: The average value of knowledge before counseling 5.05 after counseling 8.23 with a difference of 3.18. Average knowledge before treatment 9.3% after treatment 90.7% with a difference of 81.4%. Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test on the knowledge variable p=0.001 <0.05, meaning that there is an effect of counseling using modified rometa media (turntable wheels) on the level of knowledge about malocclusion. Conclusion: Counseling using modified rometa media (turntable wheel) has an effect in increasing knowledge of malocclusion in Muhammmadiyah 1 Sleman Junior High School students.
