Abstract

Background: The behavior in dental health is a manifestation of one's attitude towards the health of his teeth and mouth. Debris is a soft deposit that attaches to the surface of the teeth. One of the preventive efforts which should be taken to maintain the dental and oral health is by brushing the teeth. Brushing the teeth is a common way to clean debris or plaque deposits on the surface of the teeth and gums. The teeth brushing behavior is the simplest effective way to maintain the healthy teeth and mouth. Research objective: This study aimed to find out the description of teeth brushing behavior and debris score on the 7th grade students on SMP Negeri 12 Purworejo. Research method: This was descriptive research by using a cross-sectional approach as the data collecting method. There were 32 respondents as the samples, which were taken by using saturation sample method with 32 students as the whole population. Research result: The results showed that the majority of respondents who had tooth brushing behavior in moderate criteria those were 21 respondents (65,62%). The total respondent who had moderate debris criterion where 52,5% Conclusion: In this research, the 7th grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Purworejo had the moderate criterion for the teeth brushing behavior, and the debris score.
