Abstract

Background: Flies are very important "pests" for the world of medicine and veterinary medicine and are one of the most important vectors of human and animal diseases throughout the world. One effort to control flies that is safe for the environment is the use of attractants with natural ingredients that have an aroma that flies like. Objective: To determine the effect of adding fish in cassava flour attractant granules in the sticky trap on the number of house flies (Musca domestica) trapped. Method: This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a Post Test Only With Control Group design. The research was conducted on 16-23 May 2023 at the house which is located at Jl. Patran, Gamping District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The population of this study was the house fly (Musca domestica) from Tlogorejo market final disposal site with a total sample of 600 individuals. How to take the samples is using purposive sampling technique. The independent variable is the addition of fish to the granule attractant, the dependent variable is the ratio of the number of house flies (Musca domestica) that are trapped and those that are not trapped. Data analysis using Least Significant Difference (LSD). Result: The addition of 25 grams of fish weight to the granule attractant was the most effective addition to trap house flies (Musca domestica) with a total of 90 individuals and the Least Significant Difference (LSD) test results obtained p = 0.000 when compared to the addition of other fish. Conclusion: The addition of fish in cassava flour attractant granules to the sticky trap has an effect on the number of house flies (Musca domestica) trapped.
