Abstract

The existence of a market is needed by the community to obtain and fulfill their needs. Based on the 2018 Market Profile Survey, it is known that the number of traditional markets in Indonesia currently still dominates, namely 14,182 market units or 88.5%. Currently, the distribution of markets and shopping centers in Yogyakarta is 357 traditional market units. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2020 concerning Healthy Markets that to create a market that is clean, safe, comfortable, and healthy, it is necessary to manage the quality of a healthy environment by each stakeholder by their respective duties and functions. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of the Ngasem Market sanitation facilities for each of the variables of clean water, toilets and toilets, hand washing facilities, drainage, and waste treatment conditions. This research is a descriptive survey research in which an overview is obtained of the condition of the Ngasem Traditional Market sanitation facilities a descriptive survey is used to assess a condition in the present, then the results are used to develop improvement plans. Time of research in May-June 2022. The results of the study show the results for each variable, namely, the provision of clean water meets the requirements, toilets and bathrooms do not meet the requirements, waste treatment meets the requirements, wastewater treatment meets the requirements, and washing facilities hands meet the requirements. Components that do not meet the requirements for the toilet and bathroom variables, with the number of facilities that are lacking or not in proportion to the number of traders, there is no handwashing area (sink) equipped with soap and running water, and there are no covered trash cans. Sanitation facilities at the Ngasem Market are known that for the variables of toilets and bathrooms, waste processing, and hand washing facilities are not following the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 17 of 2020, it is necessary to repair and review sanitation facilities for components that do not meet the requirements of a healthy market.
