Abstract

Background: Anxiety is a normal condition which is experienced permanently as a part of normal human’s development that has appeared since the childhood. The anxiety level of tooth extraction treatment toward children in the Puskesmas, (50.91%) was severe anxiety. Children's anxiety in dental care can lead to uncooperative attitudes that possiblyinhibit the process of dental care and reduce the efficiency and effectiveness of dental health services. Objective: To investigate descriptions of factors which cause children’s anxiety toward the act of tooth extraction. Methods: This study was a descriptive study using a cross sectional design. The subject of this study was the pediatric patients who would be subjected to tooth extraction atPuskesmasGodean I in the amount of 30 respondents using the Purposive Sampling technique. The research instrument usedwas the Face Images Scale to see the level of anxiety. Results: The anxiety level of children who would be subjected to tooth extraction based on sex were mostly found out in female who consist of 11 respondents (64.7%) were anxious. Based on the age, most were found approximately in 7-8 years old, 11 respondents (47, 8%) were anxious, and based on their visiting experiences, most new patients, 10 respondents (58.8%), were found to be anxious. Conclusion: The factors that cause anxiety in children are gender, age, and visiting experience. Keywords: Child's anxiety, tooth extraction
